Winston-Salem Will Have More Shopping Downtown: Mast General Store Begins Construction

A Valle Crucis retailer know for its mountain shopping experience is coming to downtown Winston-Salem.

The Mast General Store carries products like hand- made wooden rocking chairs, hiking apparel and old-fashioned toys and candies.

Sheri Moretz, community relations manager for the company, says she sees Winston-Salem as a natural choice for their new store because the camel city is growing, too.

“When looking at Winston-Salem, we have been impressed how the city has begun to redevelop itself into a destination for arts and dining. It's a great fit for us,” says Moretz.

Moretz says since manufacturing is picking back up in the Piedmont, the store will carry various products made in the region.

The company already has stores located in three states, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. The Mast General Store in Winston-Salem is expected to open in May 2015.
