The field for next month’s Winston-Salem Open will include three former champions.
Croatian Borna Coric, ranked number 15 in the world when the player acceptance list was finalized Wednesday, is the likely number one seed.
Defending champion Adrian Mannarino will join Pablo Carreno Busta and Roberto Bautista Agut as they attempt to once again take home the Moravian Star-themed trophy.
Jeff Ryan has been the tournament director since 2020. He says there are still three wild card slots that may be held until the eve of the tournament.
“There are players that maybe don’t have the rank that they have traditionally had," he says. "But we know from research and just general input that we see through our channels, we know that they’d be popular here in Winston.”
The tournament is scheduled for August 19-26 at the Wake Forest University Tennis Complex.
