The abrupt end of a partnership between two Greensboro-based health care organizations has led to a 66-person layoff.
In a letter submitted to the state Department of Commerce, UpStream Care’s Chief People Officer Jane Price, detailed its break with Triad HealthCare Network.
According to UpStream, which provides clinical and software support to health practitioners, the layoffs were brought on by a communication from Triad HealthCare in May.
Triad HealthCare requested “significant sums” of money be paid or else it would terminate its contract with UpStream.
Claiming the money wasn’t owed, Price said her organization refused to pay and the two companies parted ways on June 10.
After losing Triad HealthCare, which operates in Forsyth, Guilford and Alamance counties, UpStream laid off 66 employees.
Terminated positions included the organization’s chief medical officer, health equity program managers and clinical pharmacists.
Per the letter submitted to the state by Price last week, UpStream is still in the process of notifying affected employees and will be for the next month.
UpStream and Triad HealthCare Network did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
