This week we take a tour through traditions of geographic place, culture, and heritage. We'll hear some wonderful fiddle tunes and songs from West Virginia with Erynn Marshall, Jerry and Jesse Milnes, Melvin Wine, Kim Johnson, Lester McCumbers and more. In the center of the show, fiddlers' convention music past and present, as Across the Blue Ridge prepares to co-sponsor the Surry Old Time Fiddlers' Convention in Dobson, North Carolina. Finally, blues and gospel with Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, the bluesman who wanted avoid feeling down; Big Bill Broonzy, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, and Turner and Lynn Foddrell of Patrick County, Virginia. It's a very satisfying hour of some of the greatest traditional sounds of mountain south and beyond.
