Across the Blue Ridge #126 - Mountains of Music Homecoming

The Crooked Road, Virginia's Heritage Music Trail, presents its fourth annual Mountains of Music Homecoming June 8-16.  It's a movable feast of music and food, with more than two dozen venues scattered across southwest Virginia.  On this Across the Blue Ridge episode, we hear from some of the artists who will perform at this year's Homecoming, We also talk with Crooked Road director Jack Hinshelwood about the theme of this year's festival, its special guest artist – Delta blues performer Jimmy Duck Holmes – and why the Homecoming brings in guest artists from outside the Blue Ridge area. We also get a preview of a pair of special concerts this year, featuring winners of the Best Overall Performer prize at the Old Fiddlers Convention in Galax, Virginia.  The show starts with a great fiddler, the late Benny Jarrell, and concludes with country music from Dolly Parton and a song from Americana band Mipso.  Something for everyone!
