A black North Carolina Legislator claims his traffic stop was racially motivated. Guilford County's Cecil Brockman was ticketed in November for a seat belt violation.

Dash camera video from the stop shows Brockman telling the trooper he is a state representative. The video captured Brockman asking why he should get a ticket for forgetting his seatbelt.

Brockman claims the troopers handling of the incident was excessive. He says three cars were unnecessary for the stop. When Brockman asked about the three cruisers, the trooper said it was because he did not immediately stop.

According to Charlotte's WBTV, the video shows that Brockman continued to drive for more than a minute after the trooper signaled him. Brockman claims he did not see the lights.

WBTV obtained a copy of the dash camera video through a public records request.

North Carolina Highway Patrol spokesperson Pam Walker says the video shows the troopers acted professionally.
