U.S. Senator Richard Burr says he wants more information on possible Russian intrusion into recent elections. The North Carolina lawmaker heads up the Senate Intelligence Committee.

News broke on Friday that the CIA believes Russian hackers meddled in the U.S. presidential election specifically to help Donald Trump. The president-elect has called that notion “ridiculous.”

But Senator Richard Burr says he and his committee are concerned about the allegations, and that the committee will conduct “vigorous oversight” into the matter.

In a statement to McClatchy Newspapers, Burr also says he stands by what the intelligence community has said so far, but believes more investigation is needed to determine who was involved, and the extent of their involvement.

The senator's statement comes as congress is still figuring out exactly what to do in response to the allegations.

The White House has already called for a full review of possible international intrusion into U.S. elections.
