Chicago Cubs Lead Cleveland Indians 9-3 In Game 6 Of The World Series

The Chicago Cubs beat the Cleveland Indians 9-3 in Game 6 of the World Series at Progressive Field in Cleveland. The best-of-seven Series is now even at three games each. The decisive Game 7 will be played Wednesday in Cleveland.

The vaunted Chicago offense came alive, jumping to a 7-0 lead by the end of the third inning, led by shortstop Addison Russell who has 6 RBIs and starter Jake Arrieta who scattered three hits, allowing two runs. He struck out nine Indians batters.

The Indians threatened to get back in the game in the fourth inning with a double by Jason Kipnis and a RBI single by Mike Napoli. Then Cleveland loaded the bases but Cubs starter Jake Arrieta worked out of the jam.

The Indians got another run on a solo home run by Kipnis in the fifth inning.

Arrieta was pulled from the game after getting two outs in the sixth inning. Cubs reliever Mike Montgomery got the third out.

The Cubs struck early scoring three runs in the first inning with a two-out solo home run by Kris Bryant, followed by a two-run double by Addison Russell on a flyball that was mis-played by the Indians' outfielders.

The Cubs blew the game open when they loaded the bases in the third inning on a walk and two singles, chasing Indians starter Josh Tomlin. Cleveland reliever Dan Otero promptly gave up a grand slam to Addison Russell.

Indians starter Jake Arrieta has been in command, giving up no hits, striking out five Cubs batters and walking only one.

The Cleveland Indians and the Chicago Cubs play Game 6 of the World Series at Progressive Field in Cleveland Tuesday night. The Indians lead the Series 3-2.

The Indians are sending starter Josh Tomlin to the mound to open the game. The Cubs will counter with their ace, Jake Arrieta, the winning pitcher of Game 2.

The Cubs need a victory tonight to force a Game 7 and have a chance to win the championship. As ESPN reports, past Game 6 contests have been loaded with drama. If the Indians win tonight, they will claim their first championship since 1948.

Since Game 6 will be played in an American League park, each team will use a designated hitter. That means that the visiting Cubs will have their young slugger, Kyle Schwarber, in the lineup batting second. The Indians will have Carlos Santana as their DH, leading off.
