Community Raising Money For Refugee Child Mauled By Pit Bulls

A fundraising campaign benefitting a child who was mauled by a dog in Greensboro is quickly gaining steam toward a $50,000 goal. The injured toddler is the son of recent Syrian refugees.

Police say the attack happened Tuesday morning when two pit bulls wandered to the home of the boy's family on Valley View Street.

The toddler who was attacked was taken to Brenner Children's Hospital and underwent eight hours of surgery. According to the Greensboro News and Record, he sustained serious injuries to his ear, face, arm and leg.

College Park Church has set up a GoFundMe campaign to receive donations for medical expenses. The church is also hoping to set up a new apartment for the family to have it ready by the time they return. 

The family moved to Greensboro in August after fleeing the conflict in Syria. They left their farm after bombing began and their oldest child was injured.
