The federal government owns two-thirds of the land in Utah and President Obama wants to add to that with the creation of the 2-million-acre Bears Ears National Monument. That land contains thousands of archaeological sites and is sacred to Native Americans.

Republican Congressman Rob Bishop of Utah says the federal government can’t manage the land it already owns, so it shouldn’t manage any additional land. Here & Now’s Peter O’Dowd speaks with him about his plan, which he says would better manage public land.
