It’s something of a Lassie story, if Lassie would not come home. Murphy, a young golden retriever, was on the loose in Vermont for 559 days, including all of that relentless winter last year.
There were sightings and near-captures, but Murphy was suffering a form of doggie shock, after he jumped out of a car that hit a tree in Stowe, in June 2014.
It took a village and everything from a pet psychic to electric eye sensors, and an intrepid AP reporter, but Murphy is now back home. That intrepid reporter, Wilson Ring, speaks with Here & Now’s Robin Young.
