Over 100,000 people have voted early in Forsyth County with less than a week until Election Day. That's in addition to over 35,000 who have returned absentee by mail ballots.

Absentee by mail numbers are already more than three times what they were in 2016. And as of Wednesday evening, early voting numbers have also surpassed those from the last general election.

The top three sites for early voting in Forsyth County thus far are Kernersville Branch Library, Harper Hill Commons Shopping Center, and Clemmons Branch Library.

Director of Elections in Forsyth County, Tim Tsujii, says legislation passed in 2018 has helped to process the large turnout.

“We've had to open all 17 sites starting on Day 1, and that essentially added more days and hours to the early voting period for our county,” he says.

Tsujii says there have been no major issues of voter interference or intimidation. He's reminding those who requested an absentee by mail ballot that if they want to return it in person, it must be done during the early voting period.
