Elon Among Universities Issuing Fewer Grants To Students

Elon University has been listed among the schools where students receive the least amount of grant money to help pay for their education.

As tuition at many universities has skyrocketed, students are increasingly relying on grants and other financial aid to get by.

The website StartClass used data from the U.S. Department of Education to find out which colleges hand out the lowest amount of grant money to students.

Elon University landed at number 20 on that list.

According to StartClass, just over half of Elon undergrads receive grant money. But on average, that money only covers about 38 percent of their tuition.

Elon was the only North Carolina university to make the list.

Meanwhile, seven University of Wisconsin campuses were included, and Illinois State University came in at number one.
