Fire at Kernersville recycling center producing smoke seen for miles

A scrap metal fire in Kernersville on Sunday afternoon is producing smoke that can be seen in neighboring cities.

According to a social media post from Kernersville Police Department, the large fire is at Omnisource, a metal recycling center located at 1426 West Mountain Street.

Law enforcement is asking people to avoid the area Sunday evening to allow fire crews to work.
