Modern medicine has its roots in old-fashioned folk medicine. Today though, modern medicine feels pretty distant from whatever folk traditions have stuck around, and it’s easy to assume they don’t have much in common.
A collaborative study out of the Pennington Biomedical Research Center is looking make that connection by investigating the healing potential of native Louisiana plants. Travis Lux from Here & Now contributor WRKF in Baton Rouge reports.
