Forsyth County Animal Shelter will work with the Humane Solution Spay-Neuter program to up the number of fixed pets in the area.

The two organizations will be neighbors now that Humane Solution has moved into the shelter’s unused surgical suite and offices.

The new space will be called The Solution Spay-Neuter Clinic. It will provide a minimum of 10 surgeries per week for the county with the help of Humane Solution veterinary staff and volunteers.

Kirsten Briggs, director of the county animal shelter said she hopes the number of procedures will increase as the nonprofit settles in.

According to her, a county-wide rise in unwanted litters in recent years and a nationwide shortage of veterinarians has kept the animal shelter at capacity.

In the future, she hopes the added help from Human Solution will allow the county to start spaying and neutering feral cats.
