The official first day of summer may still be weeks away, but the outdoor summer concert season has already begun. Free live performances in open air venues throughout the Piedmont and High Country kick off this weekend. One of the first events is Grammy-winning fiddler Becky Buller and her band.

The Summer Parks Series—a collaboration between Forsyth County and the Arts Council—hosts five concerts in Kernersville and Clemmons this year. Chief Operating Officer Chris Jones says one goal of the partnership is to raise awareness about amenities like Triad Park.

"It spans the Forsyth/Guilford County line," says Jones. "And one of the very, very, special things about Triad Park is that it is home to the Carolina Field of Honor. So, that is a beautiful memorial to North Carolina veterans. It is adjacent to the amphitheater."

And the music?

"We're going to kick off this Friday evening with the Becky Buller Band," says Jones. "Buller is a two-time Grammy award-winning songwriter, eight-time IBMA award-winner. She is quite the fiddler, so, if you like Bluegrass, you're going to love this concert."

The Summer Parks Series is one of many. There's Arts Splash in High Point, Greensboro's Music for a Sunday Evening in the Park, and Midday Mountain Music at the Blue Ridge Music Center.
