Many Republicans across the country have been critical of last weekend's Women's March, and sometimes that criticism has spurred social media outrage.

The Winston-Salem Journal reports that State Sen. Joyce Krawiec sparked controversy with her own tweet Monday. The post criticized what she called “crazies” at the march and said if brains were lard they "couldn't grease a small skillet."

She later took the tweet down and posted others offering apologies, saying she was only referring to those who acted inappropriately and used "foul language."

"I have apologized for the words I used to express those frustrations, which were unfair to the many women who advocated for their beliefs in a respectful way," she says in a statement, according to WRAL in Raleigh.

Krawiec is a Republican whose district includes Yadkin County and much of Forsyth. She ran unopposed in the November election.

The peaceful march drew hundreds of thousands of protesters to Washington Saturday, pushing for women's rights and other social issues. A local version of the march in Greensboro also drew thousands.

Krawiec isn't the only one to face blowblack for criticizing the march. Earlier this week, North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey apologized after referring to the protesters as "fat."
