Governor Roy Cooper is warning North Carolinians not to fall for scams related to COVID-19 vaccines.
At a press conference, Cooper said to ignore any calls or emails you receive referring to a “vaccine waiting list."
“There is no such thing. They're either trying to steal your money, your identity, or both," said Cooper. "The state has an action plan to distribute the vaccine effectively, and it does not involve calling you and asking for your personal information or your money.”
The state has outlined several stages of vaccine distribution. Currently, only health care providers and those at long-term care facilities are eligible.
Adults with multiple chronic conditions and high risk frontline workers are next, followed by students and those in congregate living facilities. Then vaccines are expected to be made available to the general public.
The state says vaccine supplies are expected to increase significantly from January through June.
