The former Glenwood United Methodist Church will now serve as the new home for Greensboro's Housing and Neighborhood Development department.
The city acquired the building and around two acres of land on Glenwood Avenue for $30,000. It will serve as the pilot location for Greensboro's first neighborhood hub.
The initiative is designed to bring programs and services to communities. Greensboro committed four city lots to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Greensboro Inc. as part of the purchase approved by the city council in February.
Carolyn McKinney, with Christ United Methodist Church, told officials at the meeting this could help address the needs of the area.
"We have a win-win-win situation," she said. "We're able to serve the people of Glenwood, we're going to have some minority builders, and also some habitat houses in another area."
City staff is expected to move to the new location in 2024.
