The Greensboro City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved the second phase of a plan to revitalize the Randleman Road Corridor.

The vote that aims to improve living conditions in the area comes after two recent violent incidents. Resident Shirley Foster said it's enough to make someone want to move.

"I've been dealing with this for at least 15 years," she said. "We have not seen any changes. We want change so we can stay here."

The approved plan will provide guidance for city officials on how to better support the area.

Enhanced traffic enforcement would start immediately. Safety recommendations include installing LED street lights and license plate readers. Long-term projects include public art displays.

Councilmember Sharon Hightower said the conversation can't end here.

"This plan also should have dollars attached to those ideas so that we know what those dollars are and how we can start finding that money and start putting it to work," Hightower said. "That's what we got to do."

The phase covers a roughly 2-mile stretch in southeast Greensboro.
