The Greensboro City Council on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution honoring the late Yvonne Johnson, the city's first Black mayor.
Johnson, who died in December at the age of 82, served in the role between 2007 and 2009.
She was elected to Greensboro's City Council in 2011. Mayor Nancy Vaughan said at the City Council meeting that Johnson's legacy will be remembered in the hearts of all those that she loved and mentored over the years.
A copy of the resolution was presented to Johnson's family.
