Greensboro City Council to vote on second phase of Randleman Road Corridor plan

The Greensboro City Council will vote Tuesday on the second phase of a plan that could revitalize the Randleman Road corridor.

If approved the plan would provide guidance for the city to support better investment in the area. Some of the items that would be focused on first include addressing overgrown vegetation, and better code and traffic enforcement.

Councilmember Tammi Thurm said at a recent work session the city needs to consider addressing these issues in the near future for other parts of town as well.

"If we don't, then lots of these corridors get left behind, just as this one has for years," Thurm says. "So we need to make sure that we're not constantly playing catch-up, but that we're enforcing rules throughout."

Long-term projects for the area include street improvements and public art displays among other things.

This phase covers a roughly 2-mile stretch from Interstate 40 to the city's municipal boundary north of Interstate 85.
