Greensboro is launching a program that will place local artists' work in the corridors of municipal buildings throughout the city.

The Art in Municipal Spaces program aims to bridge the gap between local creatives and government.

Jocquelyn Boone, chief creative economy officer of Creative Greensboro, says artists shouldn't feel they have to leave home to be supported.

"If we can provide ample opportunities within the city, we keep our local creatives here, and we are just pouring back into them so that they can, of course, again, in turn, make our city more vibrant," she says.

The selected art pieces will be displayed in the executive offices and hallways of the Melvin Municipal Office Building. Winning artists will also receive a $200 stipend.

The deadline to apply is March 14.
