The Keeley Park Adaptive Mountain Bike Trail is two miles long and designed for people of varying levels of experience and abilities. It has designed zones for beginner, intermediate and advanced riders.

Greensboro Parks and Recreation Senior Planner Elizabeth Jernigan said her department is focused on making sure everyone has an opportunity to use its facilities.

"By creating this trail, we're providing a place where veterans or people who once loved this sport but can no longer get out there because of physical limitations, can now get back into riding," Jernigan said.

She added that this is the first of its kind in the city's trail system and can accommodate more versatile equipment that is wider, longer or heavier than a standard bike.

The Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a ceremony for the opening of the trail at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Keeley Park.
