A Grocer's View Of The Economy And Food Deserts

Today’s news from the Federal Reserve about interest rates signals the Fed’s slowly rising confidence in the economy. But is that confidence something that homeowners and consumers are feeling this holiday season?

For this week’s View from the Top conversation, Here & Now’s Eric Westervelt gets the view from the grocery store aisle. Jeff Brown, CEO of Brown’s Super Stores, operates 11 profitable supermarkets under the ShopRite banner, including seven in low-income areas in and around Philadelphia. These areas are known as food deserts because so few grocers operate there.
