Guilford County Commissioner Ray Trapp has announced he's resigning from his position.
Trapp represented the county's 8th District, and was first elected to the Board of Commissioners as a Democrat in November 2012. He was recently re-elected to the Board in 2016.
He told his staff that he has accepted the position of Director of External Affairs with North Carolina A&T State University.
According to a press release, Trapp's resignation is effective today.
Chairman of the Board Jeff Phillips praised Trapp's tenure as a Guilford County Commissioner.
No replacement has yet been named. The Board will hold its next regular meeting Thursday with eight active members.
