Guilford County released details Thursday on its corrective action plan after a state review of a case involving child fatalities.

According to the Greensboro News & Record, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services ordered the Guilford County Department of Social Services to outline an improvement plan after three children died in a December house fire. The county said in an email there have been no terminations to date.

At the time of review, Guilford County had vacancy rates in Child Protective Services as high as 30 percent. There are currently two CPS social worker vacancies out of 131 approved full-time positions, according to the county.

The plan focuses on increasing staff and improving training. It also outlines the need for increased oversight of cases. A new Child Welfare Support and Early Intervention team will also be created to help families.

The proposal was filed on June 15. The state has 10 business days to review it and make adjustments.
