Many veterans have never told the story of their military service. That could be because no one has bothered to ask. But now, the Library of Congress is acting.

Its Veterans History Project is collecting the memories of veterans, and is asking people to reach out to friends and family and record veterans talking about their lives and experiences.

Here & Now‘s Peter O’Dowd speaks with Karen Lloyd, a retired Army pilot and the project’s acting director, and also shares a story about his father, who served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
