The Interactive Resource Center announced Tuesday that Executive Director Kristina Singleton has resigned. She has served in the role since 2021.

The Greensboro day center provides services for those without housing in the area.

According to a news release, Director of Programs Bennita Curtain will now serve as interim executive director.

The change comes amid the nonprofit facing intense scrutiny. Local officials and residents voiced safety concerns after the center moved to a 24/7 model to assist an increasing number of people. The center then hired security.

But the IRC faced renewed criticism after the shooting and death of a man just outside its doors in October.

The nonprofit ended its extended hours on Nov. 4.
