Changes to North Carolina's Congressional lines have placed many of Forsyth and Guilford counties' urban voters into the 6th District.

Kathy Manning is running for Congress again this election season after unsuccessfully challenging Republican Ted Budd in 2018 in the 13th district.

This time, she's running in the 6th and will face Lee Haywood, the GOP-nominee. He's a former chairman of the Guilford County Republican Party.

The 6th leans more towards Democrats this year after court-ordered redistricting altered the lines.

Former Republican Representative Mark Walker announced he would not even run for re-election in the newly formed district, opting instead to give up the seat he first won in 2014.

Manning's ties to the local community and fundraising skills earned her name recognition in 2018. Those skills have helped her in the current campaign. As of June, she had outraised Haywood by more than $1 million.
