Dale Pollock is a professor of cinema studies and producing at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where his students walk away with extensive knowledge about film history, aesthetics, styles and with a deeper understanding of the power of film as a medium. In addition to producing films and teaching, Dale also has a broad background in writing and journalism. Many of his works have been published in a number of newspapers and magazines, like Los Angeles Times, Life and Esquire. In fact, he was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize while writing for the LA Times in the early 1980s. He's also the author of a biography of the renowned filmmaker George Lucas. It's entitled Skywalking: the Life and Films of George Lucas

Triad Arts Executive Producer David Ford met with Dale Pollock. In their conversation Dale shares his thoughts on what it means to pursue a career in the commercial film industry. Working to put together a feature film, for example, is quite different from the experience of producing a stage performance. Dale tells us why.
