Trump, Bill Clinton Visiting NC

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is bringing his campaign to North Carolina this week.

Trump is speaking Monday at a campaign rally at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center in Concord. The real estate mogul returns to the state on Wednesday, when he holds another rally at the Crown Center Coliseum in Fayetteville.

Meanwhile, former President Bill Clinton is making several stops Monday in support of Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign. He speaks first at Market Hall in Raleigh, then travels to Greensboro for an event at Elon Law School.

5 Libertarians For President In North Carolina Online Debate

Five Libertarian candidates for president are set to participate in an online debate based in North Carolina a week before the state's primary.

The Libertarian Party of North Carolina organized tonight's scheduled 90-minute debate, which will originate from Raleigh and be held through a Google video service for the candidates to participate remotely. The state Libertarian Party says the debate will be re-aired on the new North Carolina Channel, operated by UNC-TV.

Civil Rights Museum Owes $57,000 In Property Taxes

Guilford County officials say Greensboro's International Civil Rights Center & Museum is now two years behind on its city and county property taxes.

Guilford County Tax Department Director Ben Chavis tells The News & Record of Greensboro that as of Friday, the museum had not paid its 2015 tax bill of $29,512. In total, he says the museum owes $57,270. Chavis says no one from the museum has contacted him to discuss payment arrangements.

Duke Energy Says Ash Basin Leaks Nothing New

Duke Energy says there's "nothing new" about leaks from coal ash basins cited by North Carolina environmental regulators and it's ultimately addressing the wastewater by drying out the pits and shutting them down.

The nation's largest electric utility responded to Friday's announcement by the Division of Water Resources that Duke is violating state law with the leaks and that fines are possible.

The company said in a statement it's doing everything the state has asked to address the seeps from the ash storage basins.

NC Observing Severe Weather Week

Gov. Pat McCrory has declared this week Severe Weather Week in North Carolina. And he's reminding state residents that with the possibility of tornadoes, flash flooding and severe thunderstorms, folks need to have emergency plans in place, an emergency supply kit prepared and be mindful of weather alerts.

On Wednesday schools and government buildings across the state will practice tornado drills.
