North Carolina is continuing to investigate gasoline price gouging across the state, including here in the Triad. Prices rose after the flow of fuel was interrupted by a pipeline leak in Alabama.

The office of Attorney General Roy Cooper said Wednesday that he is seeking information from gas stations in Raleigh and Indian Trail.

Complaints filed with the Consumer Protection Division said the stations were charging $4.99 or more per gallon.

The CPD is investigating potential gas price gouging based on approximately 1,300 complaints from consumers.

Subpoenas were issued Monday and Tuesday to gas stations and wholesalers in Guilford, Forsyth, Rockingham and Johnston counties.

The leaking pipeline has been bypassed and the flow of gasoline resumed Wednesday night.

Some stations in the Triad ran out of gasoline because of the leak.
