President Trump's plans to divert money from military projects to border wall construction mean North Carolina bases could lose over $80 million in funding.

The Pentagon says funding will be cut from military projects like schools, target ranges and maintenance facilities to pay for the construction of fencing along the U.S. Mexico border.

A total of $3.6 billion will be diverted to help build the president's long-promised barrier.

In North Carolina, Camp Lejeune will bear the brunt of the budget cuts, losing over $40 million that had been earmarked for building construction and an ambulatory care center addition.

An elementary school replacement at Fort Bragg has been canceled, and construction of a storage facility at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base has also been impacted.

Projects in 23 states would be stalled or ended by the president's plan.
