As online services return to some areas, Novant Health announced it will start offering free virtual health appointments for residents of western North Carolina affected by Hurricane Helene.

The service will be available 24/7 for both adults and children. Through telehealth visits, health care providers can offer treatment for conditions like COVID-19, fevers, colds, rashes and urinary tract infections among others.

Novant urges residents considering the service to use 911 in case of a medical emergency as virtual appointments cannot provide health care in those cases.

To schedule a virtual visit, patients must log into their Novant Health MyChart or create one for free. A phone, computer or tablet with a working microphone and camera is necessary.

Novant is working in coordination with the state and the American Red Cross to offer shelter for displaced families in Asheville and using their transfer teams to accept patients from western North Carolina into their hospitals.

Visit the Novant website to schedule an appointment.
