Early voting in the primary for the 2022 election begins in North Carolina on Thursday.

It's getting to be decision time as voters prepare to whittle down the field of candidates for offices from local school boards to U.S. Congress.

Voters in Greensboro and Lexington will finally have their say on mayoral races that were postponed from last year. That's because there was a delay in Census numbers used to draw political boundaries in those cities.

Other key races were delayed for the same reason, including those for the Greensboro city council.

Missed the registration deadline? You can use same-day registration during the early voting period to sign up and immediately vote in the primary.

There are eight early voting precincts in Guilford County and six in Forsyth. Hours vary and are available on each county's board of elections website. Early voting runs through May 14. For those not voting early, the primary is May 17.
