An annual music festival in Winston-Salem is revealing its lineup. Phuzz Phest draws thousands to the city, and this April, local acts will play alongside some titans of the independent music scene.
One of the headliners is the Austin, Texas-based Neon Indian, known for its gauzy and synthetic sound. The over 40 acts pull from a variety of genres and locales. Winston-Salem's Cashavelly Morrison brings their lyrically-driven Americana sound.
Festival director Philip Pledger says striking the balance between homegrown music and touring acts is a priority.
“We feel its really important to honor the work that local musicians are doing, and continue to give them a platform to perform alongside bands that might not be coming to Winston-Salem otherwise,” says Pledger.
He adds that this year's festival is more streamlined - two days instead of three. The Phuzz Phest music festival takes place across venues in downtown Winston-Salem April 15 and 16th.
