Poll: Third Of NC Adults Say They Wouldn't Get COVID Vaccine

A new poll shows many North Carolina residents are still afraid of catching COVID-19. But that doesn't mean they're all preparing to get vaccinated.

A majority of North Carolinians in High Point University's survey says they're afraid of getting sick from the virus that causes COVID-19. Another six percent say they've already tested positive.

Yet about a third of those polled said they wouldn't get the vaccine if offered. 

The survey did not ask them to give a reason for why they would turn it down.

Worries about potential new strains of the virus are also high. More than 70 percent of respondents said they were very or somewhat concerned about variants that have been found in other countries, including the United Kingdom.

About a third of respondents also said they worry that the pandemic could be a major threat to their personal finances. But the biggest overall financial concern was for the U.S. economy. Seventy-one percent considered the outbreak to be a major threat to it.
