It will be a busy week for President Donald Trump. Fresh off the State of the Union address and an expected acquittal in the Senate impeachment trial, the president plans to be in Charlotte on Friday as part of a series of summits focusing on expanding opportunities in urban areas.
The Charlotte Observer reports the discussions will focus on inmate reentry into society, economic development for low-income areas, infrastructure, and the future of historically black colleges and universities.
Speakers will also include Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson and Administrator of the Small Business Administration Jovita Carranza.
The White House says it has invited Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles to the summit, as well as a number of local government, business, and church officials.
According to the White House calendar, the president will also speak at a fundraising committee dinner.
Charlotte will host the Republican National Convention in August.
