Linda Townsend Johnson and her husband, James moved to Colorado Springs from Mississippi last May. One of the first things they did when they got there was register to vote in this historic election. Then, a few weeks ago, they were told their names had been purged from the voter rolls.

"I didn't understand it, so I thought it had been a mistake," Linda Townsend says.

She and her husband were able to reinstate their names, but they were left wondering why they had been removed.

As it turns out it was part of a routine scrubbing of the voter rolls — which some say has gone too far.
