Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Deborah Ross is outpacing Republican incumbent Richard Burr in fundraising. The race is attracting big money for both candidates.
Ross brought in $1.3 million in the first three months of the year, while Burr has raised $1.1 million.
But according to The Charlotte Observer, Burr has more cash-on-hand, with close to $6 million dollars in the bank. Ross' campaign hasn't yet released her cash-on-hand numbers.
A spokesman for Ross' campaign points to the first quarter contributions as a sign of strength, although Burr is still leading in most polls.
Ross was scheduled to be in Winston-Salem Thursday, leading a roundtable discussion on college affordability and student loan reform at Wake Forest University.
