School Resource Officer Under Investigation After Throwing Student To Floor
A sheriff’s deputy who works as a resource officer at Spring Valley High School in Columbia, South Carolina, has been placed on paid administrative leave and is under investigation.
A video of the officer forcibly removing female student from her desk was posted online, showing him flipping the desk and slamming the student to the floor, then dragging her to the front of the room to handcuff her.
Just before the incident, the student had been disruptive and refused to leave the classroom with the officer. Columbia city leaders have called the use of force excessive.
