Tax Day is looming on April 18 and Americans collectively spend hundreds of millions of hours preparing their taxes.

But there may be a less time-consuming option: the government could do it instead. It’s done in Finland and Norway, and as Derek Thompson writes in The Atlantic, the system could work in the U.S.
