Meet the Artist: Author & Editor Jim Dodson

Does the name William Sydney Porter ring a bell? Hint: He was born in Greensboro on September 11, 1862, and there is a periodical in the Triad that bears his name.

O. Henry Magazine is the Greensboro-based arts and culture magazine now in its 6^th year of publication with an outstanding stable of award-winning writers who know great story-telling just as well as they know their roots. They also support the community including educational programs going on at the Greensboro Historical Museum, local productions of O. Henry plays, and the revival of the O. Henry short story award. Decades ago, O' Henry Founding Editor of O. Henry Magazine, Jim Dodson won that award. Since then he's gone on to pen several best-selling books, and his work has appeared in more than 50 magazines and newspapers worldwide. The best-selling author is also a recent recipient of the Order of the Longleaf Pine. 

Jim's book, American Triumvirate: How Ben Hogan, Sam Snead and Byron Nelson Created the Modern Age of Golf, was released in March 2012 on Knopf, and it's already in its third printing! June's O Henry issue featured stories titled Our Favorite Waitresses An Ode to the Gate City's Goddesses of Grub, Fish Tacos Meet Strawberry Shortcake, A Tale of Three Pies, and The City We Once Knew.
