The 53rd annual Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro continues this weekend with a concert on Saturday night featuring world renowned cello soloist Lynn Harrell. On the program will be Benjamin Britten's Variations and Fugue on a theme of Purcell, and Ernst Bloch's Schelomo; Hebraic Rhapsody for cello and orchestra. In addition to offering amazing concerts for all audiences, EMF is also one of the most highly sought after summer programs for talented student musicians to study. They rehearse with great masters of their respective instruments and perform intensively at extremely high levels with their peers in orchestras David Ford by phone from his studio in Santa Monica, California.
On Friday, June 27th at 4:00 PM Lynn will give a master class in Sternberger Auditorium - Founders Hall on the Guilford College campus. Tickets are ten bucks. And on Saturday, June 28th he'll join the festival orchestra in a performance of Ernst Bloch's Schelomo; Hebraic Rhapsody for cello and orchestra. This year EMF celebrates its 53rd year of bringing great music and great performances to Triad audiences. And, as in years past, EMF 2014 will showcase the brilliant talents of its students, faculty, and world acclaimed soloists from across the country and around the world.
