Gershwin and Ravel Together at Last in W-S Symphony Finale

Coming up in May it's the exciting final concert of the Winston-Salem Symphony's Classics Series.

Music Director Robert Moody will lead the orchestra in a salute to jazz-inspired orchestral classics from the early 20th century composer who did it best and the Frenchman whom he most admired. On the program will be George Gershwin's An American in Paris and Rhapsody in Blue with guest piano soloist Tamir Hendelman. The evening begins with Ravel's La Valse followed by his Tombeau de Couperin.

 

 

 

 

 

On Friday, May 2 at noon Bob and Tamir will discuss the program during the Symphony's Music Lover's Luncheon at the Piedmont Club 200 W. Second Street in downtown Winston-Salem. On Saturday, May 3 at 7:30 PM in the Stevens Center, he'll be joined once again by Tamir Hendelman in a performance of George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, and Ravel's Tombeau with a twist. The Classics Series performance repeats on Sunday, May 4, at 3:00 PM and again on Tuesday, May 6th at 7:30 PM.
