The Los Angeles, California based band No Age has been redefining the lines between melody and noise since the band formed in 2005. Drummer/vocalist Dean Spunt and guitarist Randy Randall formed the band initially as a change of pace from the hardcore punk bands they had been playing in. Embracing an experimental collage approach, and supported by a strong DIY community (in the form of the underground art & music space known as “The Smell,”) No Age quickly developed a following and critical praise. They signed to Sub Pop Records in 2008, and soon released the album “Nouns”, a unique blend of hooks, ambience, noise, and raw power.
They've toured relentlessly, and released more records on Sub Pop, the latest called “An Object.” No Age is playing in Winston-Salem on Saturday, April 5th at Krankies Coffee, as part of the Phuzz Phest Music Festival. Eddie Garcia spoke with guitarist Randy Randall last week by phone.
Tune into Triad Arts Weekend Friday at 1 and Sunday at 4 for more of Eddie's conversation with Randy.
