Greensboro is a long way from the riots in Baltimore, but concerns about police relations are also a major topic here.

The Beloved Community will hold a meeting Thursday that focuses on police accountability.

Joyce Johnson is co-director of the group. She says having a community discussion can help Greensboro avoid the violence that has plagued cities like Baltimore and Ferguson, Missouri.

"Like we did in the 1960s with the Woolworth's sit-ins, like we did with the Truth and Community Reconciliation process after 1979, we've got to find a pathway to really make our city a better place," she says.

The City of Greensboro announced this week that Police Chief Wayne Scott is expected to release strategies to strengthen relationships with all residents. The plan is expected to include more community outreach, and an emphasis on recruiting and retaining a diverse group of qualified officers.

Scott's full plan is expected to be released this week.
