Complaints about the Greensboro Police Department are up, but not from the public. The complaints are coming from within the department.

A rise in internal complaints about discourteous behavior is being attributed to body cameras worn by the officers.

The News and Record reports that the complaints are often filed after spot-checks of video footage.

The latest Professional Standards Report showed 104 internal complaints, compared with 64 filed by the public.

The most common complaint was about a lack of courtesy.

Police Chief Wayne Scott says the report is helpful in gauging the department's effectiveness, and how it can make improvements.

The chief, who was appointed in March, recently laid out his strategy to improve relations with the community.

He says that strategy includes building a diverse department and focusing on community outreach.

Chief Scott also hopes to add more body cameras to his force.
